The Volga Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1888 and serves both the City of Volga and its surrounding rural areas. Fire equipment includes two pumper trucks, a water tanker truck–combination grass unit, two pickups equipped for grass fires and medical emergencies, and an equipment van. There is 911 access for all emergencies which includes first responder calls. The city has a state fire code rating of 7 and the department is staffed by 28 volunteers.
